Maldive Velvet Fairy Wrasse

The Maldive Velvet Fairy Wrasse is also called the Red velvet Wrasse. It is found in the Maldives and islands of the Chagos Archipelago. The front part of its body is red, while the rest is yellow. The colors on the female are more subdued, and the male is brighter. Its color may vary depending on its mood. This fish is difficult to keep and recommended only for experienced aquarists.

Males are 3.1 in., females are 2.5 in. This wrasse is submissive in nature and other fairy wrasses, larger wrasses, Dottybacks and Swallowtail Angelfish may be aggressive. It is an active fish and likes to jump, so a tight-fitting lid on the aquarium is necessary. The minimum tank size is 80 gal. Feed a variety of feeder shrimp, flaked foods, and marine meats.
