Bluestreak Cleaner Wrasse

Bluestreak Cleaner Wrasse

The Bluestreak Cleaner Wrasse is found in the Red Sea, Indian Ocean and Western tropical Pacific. It eats parasites and dead tissue off larger fishes’ skin. This fish is very difficult to keep in captivity and only expert aquarists should attempt it. Usually it will only survive a few weeks to a month before dying of malnutrition, even when fed commercially prepared food.

The males are 4.5 in. long, the females 3.5 in. The majority of aquarium fish ignore the Cleaner. 26 gal. is the minimum tank size. This fish is best kept in a reef environment with a large diversity of fish, which would supply enough natural food for the Cleaner to survive.
