Ruth tells us that Bracken’s osteosarcoma was misdiagnosed for months. Unwilling to give up when diagnosis was finally made, Ruth pursued treatment. Bracken’s leg and hip were amputated and she had 4 chemotherapy rounds with carboplatin, the drug of choice. Miraculously, the cancer never returned.
Bracken survived over 7 years after amputation and chemotherapy under Ruth’s loving ministrations, finally succumbing to a massive stroke 2 weeks short of her 15th birthday.
