This bill was brought to my attention by a member of the bonecancerdogs group where I am also a member.
The Humanity and Pets Partnered Through the Years (“HAPPY”) Act is a federal bill, supported by the ASPCA, that would allow responsible pet owners to deduct qualifying pet care and veterinary care to be tax-deductible.
As with everything else, rising pet and veterinary care costs have put a major financial burden on pet owners.
Here is the site: https://secure2.convio.net/aspca/site/Advocacy?cmd=display&page=UserAction&id=2605.
All you have to do is enter your address and let your Representative know how much you support this bill.
Anyone who owns a pet, particularly a pet with special needs (illness, chronic disease, etc.) understands how care and veterinary bills can mount up. We can help each other by supporting the “HAPPY” Act.
