The creators of Change Lives held a contest to find dogs that have changed peoples’ lives. Dogs Change Lives is a project of Susquehanna Service Dogs, which provides service dogs to children and adults with disabilities to support them to live more independently.
The contest winners have been posted on the website, and the Audience Choice winning entry tells the story of how an autistic child has benefited from having a companion dog who helps him emotionally when he is feeling stressed. The Life-Changer Award was given to a story about how participating in Newfoundland Draft Tests gave the author a feeling of self-worth not previously instilled in her. The runners-up stories are also posted on the site.
