Where does the Devonshire Rex come from?
Sometime in the 1960s, 10 years after the Cornish Rex was discovered, a different curly-haired kitten was found in the English county of Devon. After several breeding attempts, some of the resulting curly-haired kittens made their way to the U.S. and were soon recognized as a separate breed from the Cornish Rex. The Devonshire Rex is also known as the Devon Rex.
What does the Devonshire Rex look like?
The Devonshire Rex is a medium size and muscular, slender with a broad chest. The head is small and wedge-shaped. Eyes are large, set wide apart and almond shaped. The large ears are set low, wide at the base and tapering to rounded tops. The curly coat is short without much insulation and comes in all colors and patterns.
Does the Devonshire Rex make a good pet?
These are very intelligent cats. They love to play and are very active. Devons are extremely curious and will investigate every and any thing. They love people and can’t get close enough to their humans. Anyone who wants a lap cat has found it in the Devon Rex. They are very affectionate and in turn want lots of affection and attention. They are best kept indoors to avoid getting chilled. The Devon Rex is good with children and pets.
