Dental health for our pets

Dog at the Dentist

Apparently February is Pet Dental Health Month. I just learned that The American Veterinary Medical Association estimates that by the age of 2, 80% of dogs and 70% of cats have some form of periodontal disease. It has been linked to diabetes, strokes, kidney disease and other life-threatening disorders. So how many of us are guilty of not paying close attention to our dogs’ dental needs? We spend money, time and effort on the grooming and physical health care of our pets, but it is so easy to overlook their teeth. I saw this story on CNN and wanted to share it with my friends on this site because it gives valuable information about how important our pets’ dental health is to their overall wellbeing.
