Where did the Tennessee Walking Horse get its start?

The Tennessee Walking Horse was bred from the Canadian Pacer, Saddlebreds, Morgans, American Standardbreds and Naragansett Pacers in the bluegrass region of Tennessee. The result of these crosses is the “Running Walk”, one of the well-known gaits of the Tennessee Walking Horse.

What does the Tennessee Walking Horse look like?

The Tennessee Walking Horse stands 14.3-17 hands high and weighs 900-1200 lbs. Mane and tail are long. Colors are all colors and patterns of horse including black, bay, chestnut, palomino, buckskin, roan and pinto.
