Where are Colorpoint Shorthairs from?
The Colorpoint Shorthair was developed by breeding Siamese cats to other cats such as the Abyssinian and shorthaired tabby. The Colorpoint is structurally the same as the Siamese, the main difference being the colorpoints. They are a separate breed having been recognized by the Cat Fanciers Association in 1964.
What do Colorpoint Shorthairs look like?
The Colorpoint Shorthair is a svelte, dainty cat, but muscular. The head is a long tapering wedge. Starting at the nose, it flares out in a straight line to the ears forming a triangle. The neck is long and slim. Ears are large and pointed. Eyes are medium size and almond shaped. Eye color is blue. Paws are dainty and oval shaped. Tail is long and thin and tapers to a point. The coat is short, fine and shiny and lies close to the body. Mask, ears, feet, legs and tail must all be the same shade of point. Colors are red, cream, lynx, seal-tortie lynx, chocolate-tortie, blue-cream and lilac cream. The coat has little dander and doesn’t require a lot of care.

The Colorpoint is very intelligent and very playful. They love people and feel very much part of the family. They are very affectionate and train easily.
