Boxers were developed in Germany in 1850, and claims its ancestry in part to a cross between Blullenbeisser Mastiff (now extinct) and the Bulldog.

What does the Boxer look like?

The Boxer has a square body, short muzzle with a large, black nose. Its lower jaw extends past the upper jaw without teeth showing when the mouth is closed. Ears were docked, but in a number of countries, docking is now outlawed. Height can range from 21-25 inches and weight can be from 55-70 lbs. Colors are brown, fawn, brindle with white markings.

What is the Boxer’s temperament?

The Boxer is easily trained and is especially good with children. It does have a tendency to jump on people, but that can be corrected with proper training. While the Boxer is comfortable living in apartments, it must be taken for long walks regularly as it is a very energetic, lively dog. The Boxer is very loyal to its family.

The Boxer is an excellent guard dog and watch dog. It has been used as a guide dog for the blind and in police and military work. The Boxer is a very playful dog and makes an excellent companion.
