Recall-Kasel Pig Ears and Variety Treats

FDA – October 17, 2012

Kasel Associated Industries of Denver, Colorado has voluntarily recalled Boots and Barkley Roasted American Pig Ears and Boots and Barkley American Variety Pack Dog Treats due to salmonella contamination.

Pets with salmonella can be lethargic, have diarrhea, sometimes bloody, fever, vomiting, decreased appetite. Pets with any of these symptoms should be seen by a veterinarian. Pet owners with any symptoms should seek medical care.

The recalled products were distributed through Target retail stores in August 2012.

The Roasted Pig Ears come in a clear plastic bag containing 12 pig ears, UPC code 647263899158/

The Variety Treat Pack comes in a 32 oz. clear plastic bag, UPC code 490830400086.Recalled lot numbers for both products Best By 13 Sept20 14DEN.

Routine testing by the Colorado Department of Agriculture discovered the salmonella in these products.
