Snakes are well-known for avoiding re-capture after escaping their cages. They are capable of finding and squeezing through any opening which is why it is so important to make sure the cage is completely secure. However if your snake does manage to escape, here are some tips to help you find your pet.
- Begin your search looking at the area near the cage. Hopefully the snake will not have gone far from its home.
- Look behind and underneath furniture and baseboards.
- Check any closed spaces such as cabinets and drawers.
- Look through, behind and under bookcases.
- Check for any holes or openings in beds, appliances and furniture where a snake could possibly crawl inside.
- Check all types of bags and boxes including backpacks and purses.
- Keep the cage open and place favorite food inside and around the cage area.
- Snakes can fit into very small spaces, so don’t overlook these areas.
- If you can’t find your snake within the house, check the garden too.
- If you can’t locate your snake after a day, you might want to call in a professional to help you find your pet.
