Where does the Khao Manee come from?

The Khao Manee is a natural breed native to Thailand. Sometimes called Diamond Eyes, Khao Manee is Thai for White Gem. The breed can be traced back hundreds of years.

What does the Khao Manee look like?

Khao Manees weigh about 8-12 lbs. and have a life span of 10-12 years. They have a heart-shaped head, high cheek bones and large ears. The coat is pure white, short, smooth and lying close to the skin. Sometimes kittens of other colors appear in a litter. Some Khao Manees have kinked tails. The coat should be brushed weekly. Eyes are very distinctive as they are usually heterochromia iridium, meaning 2 different colors. They can be combinations including blue, yellow, amber, green or gold.

Does the Khao Manee make a good pet?

The Khao Manee is very playful and devoted to its owner. It is curious, intelligent and welcomes all human attention. It is also very good with children and can be talkative. Thais consider the Khao Manee the one and only Siamese cat.
