Cancers are referred to differently depending on location and development of cells.
Sarcoma – Tumors involving connective tissue such as muscle.
Carcinoma – Cancers involving epithelial tissue such as skin cancers.
Neoplasia – The abnormal growth of cells both malignant and benign.
Metastasis – The spreading of cancer cells from the original z.site to a different part of the body.
Neoplastic growth of cells involving lymph nodes is called lymphoma.
Malignant Tumors – Tumors that can invade and destroy nearby tissues or organs and is life-threatening. Malignant tumors tend to metastasize.
Benign Tumors – A tumor or growth that is not cancerous and does not spread to other parts of the body. However benign tumors can cause problems if they are close to vital parts of the body.
