It depends. Wild skunks do not make good pets. Captive bred skunks can be loving and docile. Domesticated skunks have their scent glands removed at between 2-5 weeks old. It is legal to own a skunk in on 17 states in the U.S. and the requirements for keeping them are very strict. A domesticated skunk lacks the skills necessary to survive in the wild and should never be let out to roam freely. They have no homing instinct and could be lost within minutes. Pet skunks require a lot of time and care and you should do lots of research before committing to keeping one.
