Canine Distemper Survivor

Canine Distemper is a serious viral disease that is highly contagious to domestic dogs and wild canids.

It spreads through respiratory secretions of an infected dog. Owners of puppies who have not had the entire series of vaccinations should use caution with exposure to other dogs and when outdoors to relieve themselves.

First signs of Canine Distemper are watery eyes, pus eye discharges, fever, nasal discharges, reduced appetite, vomiting, diarrhea. As the virus advances, it may attack the nervous system causing seizures, twitching or paralysis.

Canine Distemper is not necessarily fatal but can cause irreversible damage to the nervous system.

To avoid infection of Canine Distemper, give your puppy/dog the necessary vaccination. Always check with your vet and get his recommendations.

Even if your dog is vaccinated, avoid contact with infected dogs or wildlife.
