Where do Burmese cats come from?
Dr. Joseph Thompson of San Francisco brought a chestnut colored, female cat from Burma and began a breeding program with Siamese cats in the early 1930s. In 1936, the Cat Fancier’s Association recognized Burmese as their own breed.
What do Burmese look like?
The original Burmese were sable colored cats, but the breed as been expanded to include a wide range of colors. Their short hair coats are silky. Their large, expressive eyes should be gold or yellow. Although they look sleek and lean they are surprisingly sturdy.
Do Burmese make good pets?
Burmese are very social animals. They like to talk and are very intellegent. The love being around people.
