The males grow to about 2.75 in., the females 4.3 in. Damsels may be territorial. Minimum size tank is 25 gal. Clownfish are salt water fish and this requires different equipment from fresh water fish. These fish are found in Australia, New Guinea and Melanesia east to the Solomon Islands.

The Percula Clownfish is very similar to the Common Clownfish. It is easy to keep and eats all kinds of live, frozen, and flake foods. They can be aggressive, especially as they get older. Clownfish are bred in captivity and is preferable to buy one of these as they will be easier to care for then fish caught in the wild.

Clownfish and Damselfish are the only fish species that can hide from predators by hiding close to an anemone. It is not known how they avoid being stung by the anemone.
