Veterinary Pet Insurance published a list of the 10 most popular dog names for 2010. The list is based on the names of the dogs insured by them. They have over half a million customers, so that’s a pretty big survey. Unsurprisingly, all 10 names are also human names. As more people view their pets as members of the family, they are more likely to name them accordingly. Also unsurprisingly, the top dog name in 2010 was Bella. This is a result of the popularity of the Twilight series – both the books and the movies. The main female character in this series is called Bella Swan.

VPI also searched for the most unusual dog names in their database and came up with gems like “Barnaby Bones”, “Dog Vader”, “Pickle Von Corndog” and “Badonkadonnk.”
