In Judaism, the Torah forbids eating certain foods during Passover. Any foods containing chametz are not to be eaten or owned by a Jew. Chametz is any product made from one of 5 types of grain – wheat, barley, spelt, rye and oats. In order to be considered chametz, the product must be combined with water and let to stand raw for more than 18 minutes.
Pets can eat products with soy beans, rice and corn which Jews from certain parts of the world cannot eat. Pet food must be purchased before Passover. Following is a list of foods pets can eat.
Pet birds can eat millet sprays and seeds, alfalfa pellets (crushed for smaller birds), sunflower seeds, safflower seeds, peanuts, fresh vegetables and fruit appropriate for them.
Fish can be fed Frozen Brine Shrimp, tubular worms, freeze-dried worms without fillers.
Hamsters, Guinea Pigs and Gerbils can eat alfalfa grass and pellets, fresh vegetables and fruits, sunflower seeds and dried corn.

There are many grain-free foods for pets, both dry and canned, available that may be used for Passover. You can also homecook meals for your dog and/or cat. Combinations such as lamb,carrots, broccoli, potato and rice; cottage cheese, eggs and salmon; yogurt, tuna and rice; chicken or turkey, potato, peas and carrots. Cats need more protein and less carbohydrates while dogs can eat a bit more carbs.
