There is a voluntary recall of certain lots of canned cat food by Wellpet LLC, due to possible insufficient levels of thiamine (vitamin B1).

Cats fed only the affected lots may be at risk for a thiamine deficiency which can cause gastrointestinal or neurological problems. Gastrointestinal symptoms can include inappetance, salivation, vomiting and weight loss. Neurological symptoms can be bending the neck to the floor, wobbly walking, circling, falling and seizures. If your cat shows any of these signs, contact your vet ASAP. Thiamine deficiency can be corrected if treated promptly.

The following lots are involved:

Wellness Canned Cat Food (all flavors and sizes) with best by dates 14APR13 through 30SEP14.

Wellness Canned Cat Chicken and Herring (all sizes) with best by dates 10NOV13 or 17NOV13.

Consumers with these cans of cat food should stop feeding immediately. Contact Wellness at 877-227-9587, Monday thru Friday, 9AM-7PM, eastern time or visit the website at www.wellnesspetfood.com.
