What is the origin of the Treeing Tennessee Brindle?

This breed is descended from mountain dogs all over the U.S. and was used by Native Americans for hunting. In 1967, Reverend Earl Phillips founded the Treeing Tennessee Brindle Breeders Association which has grown to over 500 members all over the U.S.

The Treeing Brindle is a robust dog, males 18-24 inches tall, weighing 35-50 lbs, females 16-22 inches tall, weighing 30-50 lbs. The head is large with a prominent muzzle and slightly hanging lips. Ears are low-set and pendant. The coat is short, dense and smooth. Colors are brindle or black with brindle, sometimes with some white on chest and feet. Brush regularly to remove dead hair.
