What is the origin of the Treeing Tennessee Brindle?
This breed is descended from mountain dogs all over the U.S. and was used by Native Americans for hunting. In 1967, Reverend Earl Phillips founded the Treeing Tennessee Brindle Breeders Association which has grown to over 500 members all over the U.S.
What does the Treeing Tennessee Brindle look like?
The Treeing Brindle is a robust dog, males 18-24 inches tall, weighing 35-50 lbs, females 16-22 inches tall, weighing 30-50 lbs. The head is large with a prominent muzzle and slightly hanging lips. Ears are low-set and pendant. The coat is short, dense and smooth. Colors are brindle or black with brindle, sometimes with some white on chest and feet. Brush regularly to remove dead hair.

The Treeing Brindle is an affectionate, loving dog. they are sensitive and will not respond to harsh treatment. They learn quickly and will respond to training done in a kind, positive manner. They get along well with older children who are kind and do well with other dogs. However they may view other pets as prey. The Treeing Brindle is not for apartment living. This energetic dog requires lots of strenuous exercise and activity with the family.

The Treeing Brindle has an excellent sense of smell and is extremely fast. It will tree the prey and climb up to take it. The Treeing Tennessee Brindle is a great, loyal companion.
