How can I tell what breed of dog my dog is?

+1 vote

I adopted a dog from a pound. She's a really sweet thing. How can I tell if she's a pitbull or an amstaf or something else? I love her no matter what she is; I'm just curious.

There are a number of laboratories that do DNA testing on dogs. They can be found online and will send you a kit with instructions for you to mail to them for testing. Otherwise, unless your dog is a purebred, there's no way to know for sure. Appearances can be deceiving. You really can't tell your dog's mix from looks alone.
