Do I need to cool my tank if it's in the sun?

I have a leopard gecko and I keep the tank in the sun. It has a mesh top. Do I have to worry about it getting too hot? If yes, what's the best way to cool it?

Yes, you should cool it, but do so gradually as sudden change can hurt your pet. Have a thermometer in the tank and check it regularly to make sure the temperature is correct. If you have a heater in the tank, check it too to make sure it's not broken. You can place an umbrella or some type of shade over the tank. Use a fan to gently blow cool air towards the tank.
