Scientists know that birds have the ability to fly thousands of miles finding their way to a desired area by using the earth's magnetic field. Researchers at Baylor College of Medicine have found that certain cells in a pigeon's brain record detailed information on the magnetic field which acts similarly to a compass. Birds can detect the magnetic field and scientists believe the information is stored in another part of the brain.
