Can foxes pass diseases to cats?

+2 votes
Our cat goes out side. She's been spayed and she's fully vaccinated. We have foxes in the woods behind our house. Can our cat get any diseases from them? I haven't heard that the foxes are ill in any way. I was just curious.

Rabies can be transmitted through a bite, but your cat has been vaccinated and she probably won't go near the foxes. Sarcoptic mange which is deadly to foxes is rarely transmitted to cats. Unless your cat gets into fox feces or ingests a rodent which is host to the fox tapeworm or roundworms, chances of your cat being affected are small.
