Why are there crystals in my cat's urine?

I just noticed crystals in my cat's urine. Should I be concerned? Why is this happening? What should I do to fix it?

Crystals in the cat's urine are a sign of a lower urinary tract disorder. They can be caused by not enough water intake and the cat's diet. Changing to a canned food diet can help but do so gradually in order to avoid stomach upsets. Always choose a food that contains no corn, soy, wheat or like carbs. Cats are obligate carnivores and require mainly proteins with little veggies. Depending on the severity of the problem, take your cat to the vet to be examined.
