What age should children learn how to ride a horse?

I am thinking about getting my daughter riding lessons. She's 5 years old. Is that too young?

No, around 4-5 is a good age to start.

Most experts feel that the size, strength and coordination of the child should be taken into account when learning to ride. Children can sit on horses being led by an adult beginning at age 3 or 4. Riding lessons can begin at about 7 or 8, earlier if a trainer feels the child is ready. It's important for the first riding experience to be a positive one.
