How can I tell if my cat is deaf?

0 votes

We've has our cat for 3 months. I'm not sure if my cat is deaf or just ignoring me. I call for him to come, but he never does. He never responds at all when we call his name. How can I be sure?

You can try to check for deafness by standing behind your cat, making sure he's not watching you and  clap your hands, bang on a pot or call his name. If your cat responds, he's probably not deaf and may not know his name yet. If  you have any doubts, the best way to tell if he is deaf is through special testing that your vet can advise you about.
