Birds can molt several times a year. But there could be other reasons for pulling out feathers. Is it very dry in your home? Check your bird's skin to see if it's flaky or if there are mites present. Mites may be difficult to see and may have to be checked by the vet. Make sure to feed your cockatiel the right diet filled with lots of fresh veggies, some fruit, nuts and pellets as well as some seeds.. Always have fresh water available. If you feel your bird is losing an excessive amount of feathers, the best solution is to have him examined by the vet to determine the cause.
