Octopuses have very short lifespans, usually less than a year. But they are interesting to watch. They are intelligent and have the ability to change shape and color. They need to be kept alone in a tank. Depending on the species, a tank needs to be at least 30 gallons for a dwarf octopus to 50-75 gallons or larger for a reef octopus. When purchasing a tank be sure to tell the shopkeeper the species of octopus you have to get the correct size.
