Gently extend your bird's wings. Clip only 4 to 8 of the outermost feathers on the bottom row only. Clip the same feathers on each wing. Don't point the scissors towards the bird's body in case he squirms a lot and an injury occurs. Don't clip a baby parakeet's wings until he learns to fly. If you're not sure about clipping them, have it done the first time by a professional and observe how they do it.
