Cats who looked like Felix the Cat, a cartoon character of silent films were popular in the 1920s. Himalayans, a cross between Persians and Siamese made their debut in the 1920s and were well received. Persians, Siamese and Manx cats were also popular. It's difficult to name one breed that stands out. There are more cat owners even today than dog owners.
