Why is my cat so interested in rubber bands?

+2 votes

I try to keep rubber bands away from my cat, but he has a 6th sense on where to find them. He loves playing with them, but I'm sure that they are really dangerous. Why does he find them so fascinating? What can I replace them with in order to keep him safe?

Anything that moves like a rubberband can be of interest to cats. But it's important to make sure that rubberbands are not accessible to your cat. They are dangerous and can cause major problems including choking and obstructions. There are many toys on the market such as puzzles that can keep your cat interested and busy for a long time. Introduce one new toy at a time and rotate them every couple of days. Set aside a daily playtime for you and your cat.
