Can I give my cat the flu?

I have a the flu. I've heard that it's something that cats can get it too. Is that true? What can I do to protect my kittie?

It's not very likely that your cat will catch the flu from you. The important thing is to practice good hygiene. Wash hands thoroughly before handling your cat. Cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough, again washing hands and don't leave any used tissues lying around. There is a slight possibility of swine flu being transferred to your cat, but it would be a rare occurrence.
