Answered: Which goats make the best pets?

Pygmy and dwarf goats are popular as pets. The La Manch, a medium-sized breed, is a very good all-around pet, affectionate, easily trained and handled. Always choose goats in pairs as they are herd animals and would be more comfortable with a pal. Make sure you have enough area for the goats. Check local laws to find out of it's legal where you live to own goats.

Answered: Do pet pigs get along with dogs?

They would probably get along better if they are brought up together. If the dog you are considering is young, you have a better chance. Of course, it depends on the personality of the individual animal. In most instances, dogs and pigs can get along. However they should NEVER be left along together. They should be supervised as play can escalate into war and the pig is usually the loser.

Answered: How do you take care of your pot-bellied pig?

Pigs make great pets. They are highly intelligent, learn quickly, are playful. They can be demanding and require a lot of time and mental stimulation. They can live up to 18 years and more, so having one is a long commitment. Feed a good commercial pig food and add fruits and veggies to help keep weight down. Pigs also enjoy grazing on grass. Their meals should be spread out over the day, feeding adults 2 or 3 times. Clean ears once a week, clean teeth weekly. Tusks and hooves needs to be trimmed by a veterinarian. Consult with your vet about which vaccines are necessary and how often they must be given. Train you pig to do tricks - they love to learn and it keeps them busy.

Answered: How big will your pot-bellied pig get?

Pot-bellied pigs grow to be about the size of a medium or large dog. There is disagreement among breeders about weight and the wide range can be 20-300 lbs. Pot-bellied pigs are believed to be overweight if they have rolls of fat over their eyes or their bellies touch the ground. You should be able to see the entire eyes of the pig if it is the proper weight.
