The Boston Terrier has a distinctive short muzzle with a good size black nose. Size is 15-17 inches tall and about 15-25 lbs. Its ears are small and erect and eyes are large, round and dark. The Boston's hair is short and fine and it does not shed. Colors are black or brindle with white markings.

The Boston Terrier is very intelligent but can be a bit difficult to housebreak. It is lively and as it is sensitive to one's tone of voice, learns quickly. While the Boston Terrier was used for fighting, it is now a gentle, affectionate dog, good with children and the elderly as well.
