Murphy, doing some learning

Hello everybody! It’s Murphy again. I want to thank Omer for giving me an opportunity to let you know what’s going on in my life. Sure, Omer gets to enjoy Spring and sprawl out in the grass. For me, it’s been nothing but work. Sure, I’ve been enjoying Spring as well. It beautiful outside, and I get to take plenty of breaks, but I’ve started going to school.

I like school. I get to hang out with other canines. I get lots of positive reinforcement. I get to have a good time. Now that I’m a little over a year, my Mom decided to get me properly trained. She’d been doing some homeschooling of her own, but I haven’t been the best student.

My new friend Oz, from Country Dog, started coming over to give me some private tutoring. At first he started working with my Mom on better methods for teaching me. That worked well, but Oz thought it would be a better idea if I took a bootcamp that he offered. Seeing how much I liked his visits, Mom thought that I would really enjoy going and getting a bit more intensive training done.

I went to Oz’s school for 2 1/2 weeks. Mom came to visit me a couple of times while I was there. It was great to see her. She brought some of my favorite treats. The bootcamp was pretty intense. I would work with Oz for a couple of hours every day. In my time off, I was able to play with other students. We all had a great time together.

When I came home, I was a changed dog. No longer would they call me “Monster Murphy!” I was much calmer and much more able to control myself. Even though I am a lot calmer, I still have a ton of energy. Mom, with some guidance from Oz, started teaching me how to use the treadmill. It’s been great. The more that I use it, the more I feel like a real athlete. I’m starting to get the sense of what a runner’s high is all about.

Oz still comes around and checks on me every now and then. It’s great to see him. He’s really proud of all the progress that I’ve made. I’m pretty proud too!
